Customize your Minecraft PE experience

Minecraft PE is the mobile verison of the popular indie game created for PC and MAC. Although it’s rather limited in capability when compared to its more refined counterpart, the game is almost as malleable and ready for personalizing.

Today we’ll show you how to make the most out of your game.
You’ll need:

  • An Android or iOS device.
  • iFunbox (only if you have an iOS device, free).
  • A file browser for your Android phone.
  • Confidence in your awesome skills.

Note: It’s best to make sure Minecraft PE is closed while making these changes. Also, you can back up your files by simply dragging them to the desktop just in case anything goes wrong and you find yourself stuck under a bookshelf.

How to change your characters skin:

Minecraft PE allows you to change your character’s name in the settings, however, that’s a far as character customization goes on minecraft. If you’d like to change the character skin, you can go to the “Minecraftpe.App” folder and swap the “char.png” file out foranother one that suits you. If you find yourself not liking the look of a certain animal or monster, you can also change those here too. If you’re interested in changing  your character’s look, you can download some skins here.

Change the blocks skin:

As far as minecraft goes, I’m fine with the way all the blocks look. Except for the glass. So I opted for a more minimal look. You can do the same with your world, or go for more dramatic changes by going into your file browser, going into “Minecraftpe.app” and deleting the “terrain.png” file and replacing it with your own. As per usual, make use minecraft PE is closed when making these changes, just to be safe.

Change the background:

Dive into the Minecraftpe.app folder and find a picture that’s called titleBG.png. You can replace that with any image that you’d like. However, pay attention to the size of the image. Your new replacement has to be the same size as the old one, if not, you’ll only get a bland white background.

Change the art:

All the art in MCPE is fine with me, but if you’re looking for different paintings you can go to the “Minecraftpe.app”folder, find the “kz.png” image, and replace it with a modified one. Make sure your new art picture has the same name “kz.png”. Again, make sure Minecraft PE is closes when making these changes.

Duplicate a world, or convert it to survival or creative:

To duplicate a world you’ve created, simply head over to the “Documents” folder. Go into every folder inside of it until you reach one called “MinecraftWorlds”. You’ll see the name of your world and you can easily duplicate all of it.

If you want to change your world into a survival or creative world, simply copy the “level.dat” of a game with the type of mode you want (survival or creative) and put it into the world you’d like to convert.
